Who is behing Option A ?
Sorry Children, a french non-profit organization spearheading the project
Option A is a project led by Sorry Children, a non-profit organization under the French law of 1901, which also launched the #lapireexcuse photo campaign in 2019 with Josef Helie, encouraging us to take a step back and look at the cognitive, psychosocial, and societal mechanisms that hinder environmental action. Citizens and iconic figures have been photographed over several years with the worst excuse they could give their children in the face of the upheavals that lie ahead.
Offbeat, artistic, and testimonial, the campaign reached several million people on social media and led to a book published by Alternatives Gallimard in late 2021.
Since 2019, in response to #theworstexcuse they had come up with, campaign participants were all invited to suggest #thebestaction they were already taking or planning to implement.
Meanwhile, the Sorry Children association, in consultation with experts, was developing its own response: a large-scale movement to collectively prepare for the upheavals to come, based on simplicity, mutual aid, and self-reliance. This response is Option A.
How Option A works within Sorry Children
Within the Sorry Children association, Option A is a project with its own governance structure and therefore its own autonomy. This governance structure is based on three committees:
The operational committee composed of founding members and, eventually, individuals working operationally on the project (development manager, project manager, communications manager, etc.).
The steering committee, which provides ideas, principles, and actions for the project.
The participants' committee, which brings together all individuals participating in the project within teams, or relaying the project, supporting it.
In addition to these three committees, there is a network of technical consultants who support the project by offering their expertise on specific topics.
